Actually like the points to miles calculator. Standard chartered giving great conversions now, but maybank decent for convenience too

How to Choose the Best Credit Card in Malaysia

Cashback Cards

Best for everyday spenders. Look for 5% cashback on petrol and groceries. Cards like Maybank 2 Cards and CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum offer free-for-life with great rates.

Travel Miles Cards

Best for frequent flyers. Look for cards that earn miles on all spend, lounge access, and travel insurance. Usually require higher income (RM60k–120k/yr).

Annual Fee

Many Malaysian credit cards are free for life. Premium cards (Infinite, Signature) charge RM400–800/year but are often waived with minimum annual spending.

Islamic Credit Cards

Islamic credit cards do not charge interest (riba). Instead they may use a monthly administration fee. Suitable for Muslims who want Shariah-compliant spending.

Credit Cards Malaysia — FAQ

It depends on where you spend. For petrol and groceries, free-for-life cards like the Maybank 2 Cards and CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum are popular for cashback of up to around 5%. Use the comparison above to sort by cashback rate and match a card to your top spending categories.

Many Malaysian cards are genuinely free-for-life, while others waive the annual fee once you hit a minimum number of swipes or a yearly spend target. Filter the table above by 'no annual fee' to see the current free-for-life options.

Most banks require a minimum annual income of RM24,000 (about RM2,000/month) for entry-level cards. Premium cards (Platinum, Signature, Infinite) typically need RM36,000–RM120,000+ a year. Each card's income requirement is shown in the comparison above.

Pick cashback if you want simple savings on everyday spending like petrol, groceries and dining. Pick air miles if you fly often and will actively redeem miles for flights or upgrades — miles can give more value per ringgit for frequent travellers, but only if you redeem them.

Islamic credit cards don't charge conventional interest (riba). They use a Shariah-compliant structure instead, often a fixed monthly management fee on the outstanding balance. They suit anyone wanting Shariah-compliant spending — just compare the effective cost against conventional cards.
