Can I use Touch 'n Go eWallet in China?
Short answer: yes. Scan Alipay QR codes at millions of shops, pay in ringgit, no Chinese bank account needed.
Through Touch 'n Go's cross-border partnership with Alipay+, your Malaysian eWallet is one of the foreign wallets accepted across mainland China. You pay at over 10 million Alipay merchants — food stalls, restaurants, metro, malls — straight from your ringgit balance, with no currency exchange and no local bank account.
How to scan & pay in the app
Open your Touch 'n Go eWallet — it's the same scan-to-pay you use at home. Here's exactly where to tap.
Tap “Scan”. Open the Touch ’n Go eWallet and tap the Scan (QR) button on the home screen.
Scan the QR. Point your camera at the merchant’s Alipay or Alipay+ QR code.
Confirm & done. Check the amount, confirm — you’re paid in ringgit and your balance updates instantly.

Before you go: make sure your eWallet balance or GO+ covers the bill — reloads are free via FPX, DuitNow or card. App screens shown are illustrative.

From night-market stalls to metro gates — your ringgit just works.
Not just China — 50+ countries
The same Alipay+ scan-to-pay works wherever you see the Alipay+ QR — across Asia, Europe and beyond.
…and 40+ more, including South Korea, Japan, France, Germany and the UK. Coverage varies — check the in-app list before you travel.

Do I need to download the Alipay app?+
No. Your Touch 'n Go eWallet pays Alipay and Alipay+ merchant QR codes directly through the cross-border partnership — just scan with the TnG app you already use. Downloading Alipay is optional and only widens coverage slightly.
Do I need a Chinese bank account or yuan?+
No. You pay straight from your Malaysian ringgit balance. The merchant receives yuan; TnG converts it for you and charges your wallet in MYR, with the rate shown before you confirm.
What's the fee to pay in China?+
Touch 'n Go applies roughly a 1% conversion fee on overseas QR payments, baked into the rate you see. There's no separate currency-exchange step or cash-handling cost.
Where exactly can I use it?+
Anywhere displaying an Alipay or Alipay+ QR — food stalls, restaurants, convenience stores, malls, metro/transit counters and tourist spots across major Chinese cities. Acceptance is widest in cities; carry a little backup cash for rural areas.
Is it safe, and what if a scan fails?+
Payments run over the regulated Alipay+ network and need your confirmation (and PIN/biometric) before completing. If a QR won't scan, check your balance and internet, or ask the merchant for an Alipay QR specifically. Keep enough balance to cover the bill plus the ~1% fee.

Acceptance, fees and the supported-country list change over time and depend on the merchant — confirm details in the Touch 'n Go eWallet app before you rely on it.
