Petrol Price Malaysia — FAQ
RON97 is RM4.80 per litre this week (effective 22 Oct 2026). RON97 follows the weekly market float and changes every Wednesday — see the live table above for the current price.
Peninsular pump diesel is RM5.07 per litre this week (effective 22 Oct 2026). From 1 July 2026, subsidised diesel is RM2.10/litre nationwide for eligible Malaysian citizens (verified by MyKad at the pump under BUDI Diesel); ordinary Peninsular diesel still follows the weekly market price.
Petrol prices in Malaysia are announced every Wednesday by the Ministry of Domestic Trade (KPDN) and take effect from Thursday to the following Wednesday, using the weekly Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
RON95 is the subsidised everyday fuel suitable for most cars. RON97 is a premium fuel for higher-performance engines and follows the weekly market float price, while RON95 is held at the government subsidised price.
Under the targeted BUDI95 subsidy, qualifying Malaysian citizens pay RM1.99 per litre for RON95, verified by MyKad at the pump. Everyone else pays the unsubsidised market price, and RON97 and Peninsular diesel follow the weekly market float.
Weekly prices are set by the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), which tracks global crude oil (Brent and WTI) and the USD/MYR exchange rate. When global crude rises, RON97 and diesel usually rise the following week — see the live crude oil chart above.
