Third rise in a month
RON95, RON97 and Diesel Jump 25 Sen as Brent Tops US$101 for the First Time Since May
Fill up at market rate this week and RON95 costs RM4.02, RON97 costs RM4.50 and diesel costs RM4.92 a litre — all up 25 sen from last week. The Finance Ministry blames one thing: Brent crude topped US$101 a barrel on 9 September, its highest close since May, as the US–Iran conflict escalated again.

Third rise in four weeks
- The US Navy destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in the Gulf this week, sharply escalating the conflict.
- Houthi rebels struck Saudi oil facilities across four cities, opening a second front on supply risk.
Who actually pays this
- BUDI95 and Budi Madani Diesel prices don't move this week's 25 sen only hits the unsubsidised market rate.
- The subsidised quota rose to 300 litres a month on 1 September, up from 200.
Updating our 2 August piece. We last wrote about a 20-sen jump tied to the same US–Iran conflict in early August — that round eased within days when a ceasefire briefly held. This time Brent has gone further (US$101 versus US$96 then), and the fighting has widened to Saudi energy infrastructure, not just tankers in the Gulf.
What to watch
- Wed, 16 SeptNext weekly float. If Brent holds near US$101, expect little relief at the pump for market-rate buyers.
- OngoingWhether fighting reaches the Strait of Hormuz itself — a fifth of global oil and LNG passes through it daily.
- Your sideYour 300-litre monthly quota under BUDI95 or Budi Madani Diesel — go over it and you pay the market rate for the rest of the month.
