MBSB FD Promotion 2026: TD-i Pays 4.00% p.a., More Than Its Own TIA-i

RaymondRates.my3 min read

MBSB Bank is running two deposit campaigns at once. TD-i, a plain fixed deposit, pays up to 4.00% per annum. TIA-i, an investment account, pays less — and doesn't carry the same protection.

The deposit pays more than the investment account

Both tenures, one scale. TD-i leads TIA-i on the 6-month and the 12-month placement alike.
  • TD-i is a deposit — covered by PIDM up to RM250,000 per depositor, no action needed.
  • TIA-i is an investment account under a Mudharabah profit-sharing contract, not a deposit.
  • Fresh and rollover funds both qualify for the full campaign rate, no top-up required.

Why the investment account can't promise its rate

  • MBSB can revise TIA-i's rate if Bank Negara's OPR changes, without needing consent.
  • The profit-sharing ratio can shift mid-contract, cutting the customer's eventual share.
  • TIA-i carries no PIDM protection, stated plainly in the campaign's own clause 3.16.

What to watch

  • 31 Oct 2026Both campaigns end on this date, for TD-i and TIA-i alike.
  • At maturityTD-i auto-renews at MBSB's prevailing board rate, not the campaign rate.
  • Before you placeRollover funds need no top-up. Money already sitting at MBSB doesn't count as fresh funds.
