Two campaigns, one bank
Al Rajhi Bank Is Running Two FD-i Campaigns in Malaysia This September
Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia is running two Term Deposit-i campaigns at the same time this September. One pays more if you wait. The other pays you the very next day. Here’s the real trade-off, and how the winner stacks up against the market.
Two campaigns, one bank
| Tenure | TD-i Advantage | Quick Returns |
|---|---|---|
| 1 month | 3.25% | 3.15% |
| 2 months | 3.40% | — |
| 3 months | 3.50% | 3.40% |
| 4 months | 3.50% | — |
| 5 months | 3.50% | — |
| 6 months | 3.80% | 3.70% |
| 7 months | 3.75% | — |
| 8 months | 3.75% | — |
| 9 months | 3.80% | 3.70% |
| 10 months | 3.75% | — |
| 11 months | 3.75% | — |
| 12 months | 3.80% | 3.70% |
Sorted by tenure, shortest first. Quick Returns only offers 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months; TD-i Advantage covers every month from 1 to 12. Both p.a., quoted before zakat/tax.
- Every tenure from 6 to 12 months sits in both campaigns — nothing overlaps below 6 months.
- Advantage runs 22 Aug–30 Sep; Quick Returns runs 1 Sep–31 Dec, a three-month head start for the newer one.
- Placement is 100% digital, through the MY alrajhi app only — no branch or call-centre option.
Why would anyone take the lower rate?
- Quick Returns credits the entire tenure’s profit the next calendar day — Advantage waits until maturity.
- On a RM10,000, 12-month placement, waiting for maturity earns RM10 more — the price of getting paid a year early.
- Early profit can be reinvested right away — useful if you want to compound sooner or need the cash sooner.
How it compares with the rest of the market
- Al Rajhi’s top rate is 0.75 points above the Rates.my FD Index’s Accessible Average.
- Alliance Bank’s branch campaign still leads by 0.58 points — our current highest-rated FD-i promo.
- Al Rajhi isn’t yet listed on Rates.my’s own FD comparison page — check it against the banks we do track.
See the Rates.my FD Rate Index for how the accessible average is calculated, or which promos beat the OPR this cycle.
