Budget 2027's New Stamp Duty Tier Could Save First-Time Buyers Up to RM12,750

RaymondRates.my3 min read

Budget 2027 keeps the full stamp duty exemption for first-time Malaysian homebuyers up to RM500,000. The new part: homes priced RM500,000–750,000 now get a 50% break on the duty above RM500,000 too — something today’s rules don’t give at all.

  • The RM500,000 cap is now a RM750,000 tier — buyers above the old cap got zero exemption before.
  • The window extends to 31 December 2030, three years past the current 2027 cut-off.
  • Both the loan agreement and the transfer document are covered — not just one of the two.

How much do you actually save?

  • The 0.5% loan-agreement stamp duty is exempted too — the table above covers only the transfer document.
  • These are proposals, not law yet — the Finance Bill 2027 must still pass Parliament.
