Was KEB's ACE Market IPO Really Oversubscribed? Barely — by 0.80%
KEB Berhad’s ACE Market IPO was oversubscribed — technically. The property developer’s public portion drew just 0.80% more applications than shares on offer, Bursa filings show, and only cleared in full because a stronger Bumiputera tranche bailed out a weaker public one. KEB lists 16 November at 35 sen a share.
How One Tranche Saved the Other
- 27.31 million Bumiputera shares were applied for, against 22.06 million on offer — a 23.8% surplus.
- The non-Bumiputera portion fell short, drawing 17.16 million applications for the same 22.06 million on offer.
- The surplus was clawed back to cover the shortfall, per the prospectus — leaving the public portion just barely covered.
The Same Day, MyDCD Sold Out 36 Times Over
- MyDCD’s public portion drew 28,816 applications for 3.36 billion shares — 36.46 times the 89.7 million on offer.
- Both debutants ballot the same day, 4 November — KEB lists 16 Nov, MyDCD 17 Nov.
