These campaigns expire within the next three weeks. Renewal at the same rate isn't guaranteed — an FD left to auto-rollover at maturity earns the (much lower) board rate, not these.

What moves FD rates in Malaysia

The OPR sets the floor.Bank Negara's Overnight Policy Rate anchors all ringgit deposit pricing. When the OPR moves, promotional FD campaigns reprice first — they expire and relaunch monthly anyway — while standard board rates adjust more slowly.

Month-end promo cycles. Most top rates are campaigns that end on the last day of the month and relaunch (or don't) the next day. That's why the best available rate can move overnight without any OPR change at all.

Seasonal deposit drives. Merdeka, year-end and festive campaigns tend to push promo rates up temporarily as banks compete for fresh funds — the chart above catches these bumps as they happen.

How this is tracked

Every rate on rates.my/fixed-deposit is re-verified daily against the banks' own official rate and promotion pages, and each day's verified table is archived permanently. Banks remove expired campaign pages, so this history can't be rebuilt after the fact — to our knowledge this is the only public daily record of Malaysian FD promo rates. “Best accessible rate” means the top promo with a minimum deposit of RM10,000 or less — excluding wealth-tier offers that need RM50,000–100,000 or a premier relationship.

FD Trends FAQ

Are fixed deposit rates going up or down in Malaysia?

As of 24 Jul 2026, 2:41 PM MYT, the average of Malaysia's 5 best FD rates is 4.16% p.a., with the top promo at 4.38%. Daily trend tracking began 24 July 2026 — direction indicators appear as history accumulates.

Why do FD promo rates change every month?

Most of the best FD rates are month-to-month promotional campaigns (eFD/FPX promos, seasonal campaigns like Merdeka or Raya specials) rather than standard board rates. Banks typically let a campaign expire at month-end and launch a new cycle — sometimes at a different rate — so the 'best FD rate in Malaysia' genuinely moves every few weeks. That's what this page tracks.

What happens to FD rates when Bank Negara changes the OPR?

The Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) is the anchor for deposit pricing. When Bank Negara Malaysia cuts the OPR, banks usually trim FD rates within weeks — promotional campaigns are typically the first to be repriced since they expire and relaunch monthly anyway. When the OPR rises, promo rates tend to climb faster than board rates as banks compete for fresh deposits. This page's daily archive shows exactly how fast that pass-through happens.

Where does this data come from?

Every rate on rates.my/fixed-deposit is verified daily against the banks' own official rate and promotion pages. Each day's verified table is archived permanently — that archive is what powers the trend chart on this page. Banks remove expired campaign pages, so this history can't be reconstructed after the fact; it only exists because it's recorded daily.
